Brush pen and ball point. Digital tones.

A small postcard sized zine/mini comic that I made and handed out to people who came by our booth at Chromacon. I designed it to have a circular narrative.
(If you’d like your own DIY copy of this zine you can download an A4 version by clicking here. Simply print and fold, and you got yourself a mini comic!)

Chromacon was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and lovely. I look forward to it again next year!

Alongside the free zine I was also selling A3 art prints of Gaudy, GPS and Gaze as well as my own artbook that has a collection of my work from 2011 to now.

I will have these up for sale internationally soon but would like to get a fair idea of how many people are interested before I print off more, so flick me a message if you are.

Less than a week left to pledge for Chromacon! 4/5 of the way there, if we don’t reach the goal, nothing goes through.

Iv seen some ridiculous kickstarter campaigns get hundreds and thousands of dollars funded in a couple of days. This is only 5000 New Zealand dollars and we are still pushing within the last week to reach our goal.

There are awesome backer rewards including physical artbooks, original drawings, posters and more.

Chromacon isn’t only about illustration and comics in New Zealand - It’s a step towards a broader horizon for the illustration and comics industry. It’s to raise greater awareness and appreciation for the art of visual story telling and the artists behind it.

Chromacon is non-profit and independently run, so every bit of support is appreciated. So if you have a passion for illustration and comics or simply appreciate the hard work that goes into this stuff then please help spread the word!

I do these 20 min warmups with the guys at For Your Atelophobia.

We choose 2 random words then illustrate it either as a comic, single image or whatever.

I liked this one so i spent another 20 mins on it.

One day I’ll make a picture book.

I made a noob on a previous post and didn’t link the pledgeme campaign for the Chromacon illustration/comic festival. I updated it now but please check it out and even if you can’t attend, you can help support the growth of the illustration and comics community in New Zealand!

I did this piece for the Macro & Micro show opening this Friday at the Light Grey Art Lab. I chose the ‘everything else’ category which includes anything that is not specifically in the animal, mineral or vegetable category.

With the recent confirmation of the Higgs boson and consequently the Higgs field, I felt it was relevant to try and illustrate the concept of this ‘god particle’ and the impact it has on everyday life.

Here is an article which explains the Higgs Boson.

Sub atomic particles are interesting to me because they are the fundamental building blocks of our known universe. Yet it takes a level of faith to believe that the world around us is made up of particles that have never been seen with the naked eye. The scientific impact of the Higgs boson is wide, but I am no scientist. I simply have an interest in science from an observational point of view. Only time will tell what major impact the discovery of the Higgs boson will have on our everyday lives.

The show will be on from April 19 - May 10 at the Light Grey Art Lab and features work from over 90 different awesome artists. go check it out.

I will be exhibiting at Chromacon this May - an illustration and comic festival featuring a ton of talented, local artists. It will be held at the Aotea centre here in Auckland, New Zealand.

This is the first in what we hope will be an annual event. It is independently run and free of charge for the public, so every bit of support is appreciated!
Even if you can’t attend you can help support the growth of illustration and comics in New Zealand by backing the pledgeme campaign which includes sweet rewards such as original art and posters.
