Adam Tan Art

This is a typical sketchbook page of mine. it’s really quite boring.
Whenever i see other artists’ sketchbooks they look so neat and tidy i wonder if they purposefully compose everything in such a way or they’re just naturally neat.. i usually agree with the latter but it’s hard to accept whenever i compare their books to mine. My sketchbook is filled with random doodles, concepts, studies, random notes and whatever all piled into one it become a messy pile of graphite and ink. sometimes the final work is in there too.
I have been working alot in my book lately, just doodling and drawing, trying to reassess where i stand at this moment in terms of what im choosing to explore. I kept this sketchblog as a journal that is open for me to explore different ideas/styles and have fun. I tend to go back and forth and i find my ideas and styles contradicting what i did previously. At first i wanted to just have fun and do whatever the hell i wanted, but now im really leaning towards trying to find a kind of cohesive style that is flexible enough for me to apply these different ideas and genres.
But there is just too much that inspires me that i cannot stick to one thing. Anyway I’l see where all this drawing takes me, hopefully i’l be doing everything i want to do sometime in the future… i want to make a comic, video game, movie, animation, do illustration, keep painting, do some graphic design, write stories, make a s-*gets hit on head*. ok ok, how about i just say i want to keep my sights open.
So maybe in another time i’l post up a different sketchbook page and compare it to this one and see how much it has changed. I’m hoping it becomes neater.
peace!
